Artist of the Day - Glaive

We can officially crown Glaive the melody prince of Gen-Z. At only 15 years old, Glaive is one of the most promising young artists to break out in the sheer madness that is 2020, where up is down, down is up, and somehow against all odds, Soundcloud is slowly becoming culturally relevant again.

Glaive started making noise on Soundcloud in early 2020, and by summer had earned a dedicated following. He really broke into a much wider audience however, after getting placements on Sad Chill, one of the biggest and best curators in the genre. Since then, we’ve been given nothing but hits. We frequently say that an artist “doesn’t miss” when they’re on a hot streak, but I honestly challenge you to find a single Glaive track that doesn’t rock your world. Without a doubt, Astrid has been played at least 1000 times from my laptop alone in the last few months, and songs like Arsenic and Pissed have found their way into my rotation as well.

Infectious doesn’t even begin to describe the way Glaive weaves his signature, almost pop-punk tinged, raw vocals over an always dynamic, wide range of stellar production. Working with the likes blackwinterwells, fromtheheart, and even his contemporary Lieu, Glaive has developed an extremely captivating, impassioned sound, constructed with thick harmonies and creatively layered vocals thats sure to capture the hearts of thousands more fans in due time. Its very rare to come across an artist so confident in their sound at such an early stage in their career. Even most of the greats have a few early mixtapes floating around the internet that I’m sure they’re not especially proud of, but its part of the process…for everyone aside from Glaive, it seems.

Though his catalouge is somewhat limited, this is only the beginning of what is destined to be an amazing career. He recently featured on “October’s Lullaby” by Savage Gasp, a high energy track just in time for the spooky season, AND has a new visual with the extremely talented Overcastaz crew dropping soon.

Don’t sleep on Glaive.
